Search

FirstRain allows you to conduct a universal search for a specific company, topic, or theme with the built-in search bar, located below your name in the left sidebar.

To search, begin typing in the search bar.

As you type, FirstRain will begin to match your search topic with suggested company names, topics and themes in the drop-down for you to select from.

Search results are organized into three sections with options to filter and save.

Note: You can find more search results by scrolling within the resulting drop-down.

Search Result Sections

Latest Results: provides you with the most relevant articles to your search
Company Profile: provides a deeper view into a company by covering lists of the top products and services, top business challenges it faces, trending topics, most active subsidiaries, management changes, SEC fillings, and other insights
Explore: explores your search by trending phrases, intersecting companies and topics (a BETA feature), and closely related companies and topics

Search Results can be saved to new or existing channels. To save your current Search Results, select either Add to new Channel or Add to existing Channel, both located in the top right corner.

FirstRain will retain your last five searches in the Search Bar to easily reach recent searches. To access Recent Searches, click the Search Bar and select from the resulting drop-down options.

Company Profile

There are three search result sections: Latest Results, Company Profile, and Explore. For more information on general searching, see the section: Search

The “Company Profile” button provides a deeper view into a company by covering lists of the top products and services, top business challenges it faces, trending topics, most active subsidiaries, management changes, SEC fillings, and other insights.

Within the “Company Profile” view is the “News and Activity Timeline” panel displaying the web volume of significant events related to the company.

Hover over colored boxes to see exact dates and headlines
Hover over volume lines to better visualize
Click colored boxes to open the high volume article

Explore Search

There are three search result sections: Latest Results, Company Profile, and Explore. For more information on general searching, see the section: Search

The “Explore” button enhances your search with trending phrases, intersecting companies and topics (a BETA feature,) and closely related companies and topics. The “Explore” button has three views.

Trending Phrases

Trending phrases can be found by selecting the scattered bar icon. A word cloud summarizes the key topics and phrases associated with your search term. Each phrase is clickable to modify articles you receive.

Intersections Explorer (BETA)

You can access the “Intersections Explorer” by selecting the circular icon. This visualization presents the overlaps made by top companies and trending topics with your search term. The explorer is interactive, providing additional information as you hover over or click on different pieces.

Related Searches

The “Related Searches” view, as indicated by the three bar icon includes “Competitors”, “Related Companies”, and “Related Topics”. Select from these recommendations for additional articles and information.
